Physical Education and Sport
All students at Tinternvale Primary School participate in Physical Education for an hour each week. There is a structured warm up and stretching routine for each class that is then followed by skill development and application through minor and major games. In the senior levels, there is a focus on game sense and utilising skills within game situations. Throughout the year, all year levels have the opportunity to take part in different school-based sporting events including House Cross Country, House Athletics and Stars Tabloid Sports. There is also a whole school swimming program offered.
Additionally, year one to six students participate in level sport for an hour each week, with the level five and six students competing in both Summer and Winter Inter School Sport competitions within the Maroondah Division.
Tinternvale PS also enters teams into many School Sport Victoria pathway competitions, including Swimming, Cross Country, Track and Field, AFL Girls Gala and the T20 Blast. As well as trialling and endorsing students into the elite Team Vic pathways for various sports.
There are also several supplementary activities offered each week for 30 minutes before school;
Joggers Club takes place twice a week and is open to all students. Each session’s distance is recorded and added to our journey around Australia. This progress can be viewed on the large map in the gym.
Morning Movers happens once a week and is a fun, energetic and musical way to start the day. All students are welcome to skip, hop, jump, hula or just dance around before school.
At Tinternvale PS there are many Physical Education and Sport opportunities on offer that enable each student to find and then go beyond their own level.
